    Summary

It’s not that Chu Wanning is a recluse.

The townspeople have seen him, even if most keep their distance. The ones who do speak to him find him cold, forbidding, and not a little strange, confirming this in whispers behind his back: a man is as he dwells. He hears them, and tells himself he doesn’t mind. He is comfortable in his home. Deep as it may be in the dark, wet forest that covers the mountain rising ominously above the town. Woods which breathe and pulsate with life of their own.

It is a good place for someone like Chu Wanning, whose energy thrums to a tune that is often… disharmonious with the rhythm of the world down below. He does what he can for those in need, and that is his way of connecting to the beating heart of humanity, touching the raw vitality of life. It is enough.

So, Chu Wanning is alone. It’s fine. The quiet, solitary world that harbours him also gives him what he needs, and he gives back in kind. The brave few who enter never venture far enough into the woods to reach his door. No one bothers him. No one seeks him out. Until something shows up banging at his door; half-dead, and half-human.

    HERE’S THE PLAN:

    1. Go undercover as a fighter.

    2. Get Chu Wanning to pay attention to me.

    3. Get Chu Wanning to check out my pecs.

    4. Get into Chu Wanning’s pants.

    5. Move in together and probably get a dog.

The plan was foolproof. There was just one problem: Mo Ran didn’t know if Chu Wanning liked dogs.

A reimagining of “Mignon,” a Korean BL animated film by 뿡빵뀨, but with a 2ha twist: Mo Ran goes undercover as a fighter in an underground fight club to find a murderous vampire woo doctor Chu Wanning. When Mo Ran discovers that Chu Wanning is a vampire, you would think it would deter him. It doesn't.

    Summary

“I have heard,” Neuvillette says, each word cautiously ambling off his tongue, “of a game that humans play. A modification to the rules that might entice you to stay a while longer.”

Wriothesley waits, still wearing that smarmy grin, no doubt expecting Neuvillette to propose some obscure and complicated variant of chess.

“The game is typically played with cards,” Neuvillette continues, “but I believe it will work just as effectively as a motivator in this scenario. For each game you win, I shall remove one article of clothing.”

The way the grin slides straight off Wriothesley's face is immensely satisfying, as is the movement of his scarred throat as it violently bobs. “You will— sorry, what?”

During a friendly game of chess, Neuvillette gets his draconic wires crossed.

    “No!”

For a man of his stature, Wriothesley crosses the room at impressive speed. One hand clamps around Neuvillette's wrist, and the other snatches the note away just before it can fall to its burning demise. There's nowhere for Neuvillette to retreat— not unless he wants to take the note's spot in the fireplace— so he just braces himself on his feet as he parses Wriothesley's irate expression.

“What the hell are you doing?” Wriothesley demands as he straightens. “That's evidence.” He holds the note up and away, as if he's expecting Neuvillette to grab at it like a child whose toy has been confiscated.

“Evidence of what?” Neuvillette asks, astonished by the display of fervor from a man known for turning polite nonchalance into an art form. “It's not a crime to send a letter.”

“Letter?” Wriothesley growls. “I think you mean threat.”

Neuvillette receives a threatening letter, and Wriothesley makes some threats of his own.
