There's a bird sitting on a branch in the tree, peering down at him curiously. "I'm going insane," Johnny tells it. "I'm a loony." The bird chirps in response and flies off. It shakes the branch in the process and several leaves flutter down, landing on his face. He doesn't make any move to brush them away, just closes his eyes and lies there.
