“Are you a gambling man, Will?”
Will blinked. “I’ve never had the time or means.”
“You have both now,” Hannibal spread a palm at his side, a strangely welcoming gesture. “You seek independence from an Alpha, but the opportunities only a bond could provide, correct?”
Will nodded slowly, eyes narrowing as he flicked them between the doctor’s own.
“I seek a companion with whom to build a life and family, going forward.”
Will shook his head slowly. “I don’t follow.”
Will is an Omega who desires independence, freedom, and the opportunity to be anything but a barefoot-pup-bearing simpering thing. Hannibal is an Alpha who finds his mind curious.
They make a deal: if Will can convince Hannibal before his next heat that he is worth more than breeding stock, and can go through his heat without begging for his Alpha, Hannibal will not mate him, but make him a ward instead; Will could go to college, get a job, do anything he wanted.
If not, then he will be Hannibal's mate, bear pups, and accept his role.
But is it really as simple as that?

“You’re not the birdy I’m looking for.” The man’s grin fades as he takes in the scene, slumping out of his triumphant stance with a disgruntled moan.
“I’m sorry, Duke, I’m gonna have to call you back. A clown just kicked my door down. For some reason,” Danny says into his phone, before hanging up and dropping it onto the counter next to him, despite Duke’s protests. He’s starting to get the impression that this isn’t the lighthearted joke he thought it was. He turns his attention towards the clown. “And you’re not the pizza delivery boy. Or, at least, I hope you’re not. Won’t be ordering from them again if you are.”When Danny finds a box just outside of his brand new Gotham apartment, he thinks nothing of it... until he opens it up to find a crushed taxidermy bird inside and a weird note signed only by a J. Summary
Batman.
Batman lived right next door. Batman surely had a generator, or at least a fireplace and wood, or some way to get warm.
Batman took care of kids, and Mr. Wayne was really nice. He would at least let Tim warm himself back up. Maybe he could even stay just until the power came back on.
It was worth a shot.
