Summary
Andrew doesn’t care about compliments. He knows he is objectively fairly handsome, height aside. He dresses well, he’s fit, he’s an athlete — he is comfortable with the way he looks and the way he is. It doesn’t matter. Neil is— enough. Everything else is inconsequential. Neil does not comment on his looks. Neil says things like You’re amazing and Choose us and I want to stay and that means more than any shallow observation ever could.

Summary
“I’m staying on this side of the door,” Neil says. “Andrew, if I leave you alone, I need to know you’re safe.”
He’s not relapsing tonight. That would be too fucking easy. So fucking easy that Andrew wishes that was the problem. The real problem is an inherited sickness he was condemned with when he wasn’t yet old enough to understand that that kind of love isn’t love. Yet it would sound like a lie if he confesses he doesn’t want to want to relapse anyway. So instead he says, “You’re not safe with me.”
Or Andrew has a nightmare and decides they need to break up; but Neil isn’t going to let him spiral.

Summary
The only time that Andrew ever had long hair was when he was a child. It was never long like the girls he was housed with, but it was long enough to become scraggly and matted, which it often did. Very few of his foster guardians were ever willing to spend time washing it or even to brush it daily. Andrew was too young to do it himself.

Andrew begins his journey of reclaiming his body. He starts simple: with his hair.Bookmarked by howlintherain
