“You sweet for me, hyung?” Jimin says, and kisses the corner of his mouth. He’s quick. Doesn’t give Yoongi time to turn his head and get more. “You down real bad?”
“Jimin-ah,” Yoongi says like he’s real annoyed about it, but they both know it means “yes,” because it’s always meant yes. This is part of the game, too. Gives Jimin a little something to push against, to sink his teeth into, before Yoongi gives him whatever he wants. He already knows Yoongi will do anyway, so it’s safe to play like this, the push and pull of it, the giving in. It wouldn’t have always been.
“Yeah, ok, I know, ok,” Jimin huffs, but he doesn’t mean it either, and his cheeks go a little pink right after. “Go on, then.”

“She shared that honor with someone else,” Lan Zhan said, honestly. This was the easiest answer to offer about Sizhui’s origin. It was likely going to get harder. Or, well, more complicated. He had always told himself that if it came up, he’d tell Sizhui the truth, and, if there were ever the chance, that he’d want to tell Wei Ying. As it turned out, his guts were rolling with something disconcertingly close to fear.
At first, Wei Ying looked confused, then his shoulders dropped, almost in relief. “Oh,” he said. “Oh! You adopted?”
“Mn.”

There wasn’t anything unusual about his flushed cheeks, his mussed hair, or the wrinkles in his expensive button-up shirt. But then, instead of meeting his eye, Xichen looked at the floor and fiddled with his keys, standing in the entryway of their home almost like he wasn’t sure he was ready to come in.
“Da-ge,” he said, halting in a way Xichen basically never was. “I should tell you something.”

Yet nothing he had imagined was as good as this. How was he supposed to go on the rest of his life knowing how soft Lan Zhan’s lips were? He knelt through his punishment stoic as ever, the ache in his chest swallowing the pain in his knees and arms so that when he was dismissed, he was surprised by how much time he had lost there in the snow. He found that the punishment had only steeled his resolve: if Wei Ying wouldn’t let him try music, he would find something else.
