    “Lieutenant."

    Riza hopes that he's merely addressing her to discuss something work-related, but knows that he's not based on how his features are slightly twisted with worry that he wouldn't dare let show with anyone else around. He has the most pitiful expression on his face; perfectly plucked brows furrowed, charcoal eyes full of genuine concern, rosy lips turned slightly downwards in the beginning of a frown.

    “Colonel?”

    “You’re not doing well,” Roy says. It's not a question, but a soft, calm statement that fills her with rage. Her first thought is fuck you, I'm never doing well anymore and we know it, so why do you even bother? She's just barely able to bite her tongue for long enough to let him finish. “You don’t… Need to tell me about it, but I’d like to make you feel better.”

    Riza winces, because she already knows where this is going.

    Every time that she gets into one of her depressive moods, Roy notices- and when Roy Mustang notices something, he can never just leave it alone, especially if he perceives it as a problem. Instead, he thinks that he has to fix everything, including Riza, no matter what it takes.

    Today is apparently no different, but when is it ever?
