Summary
Marvel AU/Non-canon: AU where Civil War ended differently. In Siberia, Tony backs up Steve and came to understand that Bucky didn’t mean to kill his parents. Instead, the team lives together; Bucky is de-programmed by Shuri immediately then moves into the compound. The Reader is an ex-Hydra agent who was captured before WW2 and tested on with the Tesseract and genetic experiments that enhanced her reflexes and senses. After being held captive and tortured into being a Hydra agent, the Reader escapes before they can inject her with extra serum. During her escape, she's stopped by a defrosted Bucky but manages to appeal to his humanity and escapes.
Years later, Tony hears about a young woman in Madripoor with enhanced reflexes who fights blindfolded in cage matches. He and Bruce recruit her to join the Avengers. Neither the Reader nor Bucky expected to see each other again, resulting in a lot of... tension.
*Clint decided not to retire and lives with his family in the non-Avenger residential compound a mile away. Wandavision and Brutasha are a thing. Other Avengers come to visit as well.*

It's been four months since Y/N returned to the Compound, but despite her best efforts, she can't seem to escape her trauma. Nightmares haunt her at night, while memories stalk her during the day; a never-ending cycle that she hopes she can smile her way through.
She finds distraction in her busy schedule and a few quiet moments in-between, but no matter how hard she tries, she can't forget. And now that the world knows who she is, she likely never will.
Some see her as a hero, others see her as a weapon. Y/N doesn't know which to believe—especially with the little control she feels she has over her life anymore.The journey to recovery is never easy, but Y/N thinks it may be impossible.

Uses 'Y/N', but is written in 1st person POV (so kinda an OC?)
Hydra is still active after 2014 (CA:WS), Avengers together after CW; and takes place a couple years after Bucky's return from Wakanda.Series

Summary
Takes place during the 6 months between Endgame and TFATWS. Follows the plot of TFATWS starting chapter 16.
Bucky Barnes, a mentally unstable ex-assassin, is suddenly pardoned for his crimes as The Winter Soldier and thrown into the modern world without a clue of what to do and who to trust. After a few weeks spent at the Avengers compound, the ghosts and bad memories of those he once wronged become far too unbearable to exist with. He moves out and finds himself at an apartment building in Brooklyn where he occasionally has run in’s with his beautiful and kind neighbour (y/n). Bucky is trying to understand the new world while also making amends for his past wrongdoings and all he looks forward to is elevator rides with his very pretty neighbour.
"They both knew that very soon the current flowing between them would reach a peak, and holding themselves back from each other would no longer be possible. It was antagonizing, living in the constant suspense, but it was also deeply enticing, like a growing drum roll before a symphony’s final score. They both felt like kids sitting on a patch of grass watching a flame slowly draw closer to a box of fireworks, knowing that any second now, they would erupt in the sky."
