“Tommy, fucking answer me!”
He was yelling now, swiping his free hand nervously over his hair. He feels the urge to hit something. Someone. He wants to punch and punch and punch until his knuckles bleed out because it means he can still feel something.
“Evan is going to need you, you know,” Tommy says quietly. Eddie can hear sobs in the background.
Now what the fuck is that supposed to mean?
“What happened to Bobby?” Eddie’s voice breaks. “Where is he?”
Tommy exhales like it hurts. “Bobby Nash is dead.”
It hits Eddie like a bag of bricks to his stomach. His knees weaken, his ears ring, and for a second, everything goes white.
When he returns to reality, Tommy’s voice calls his name on the phone.
He swipes at his face, breath shaky. “Tell Buck I’m on the next flight out.”
He hangs up.
Or:
Eddie Diaz is trying to have a quiet movie night with his son when the phone rings. It’s Tommy Kinard—and he’s saying Bobby Nash is dead. Everything spirals after that.

Summary
Hunger is holy. At least, that's what Evan grew up knowing. The ache in your stomach means you're pure, clean. The deep sense of rot means it's working. Passing out in the shower means you're doing something right for once. Evan knows this, and he knows it well. He knows it like he knows the gnawing pain in his abdomen when he's on day 3 of a fast, it's familiar. It feels like home. It feels like control.
Or, Buck has struggled with an eating disorder for years. Eddie is there to do what he can. I basically took that one line about Buck not eating until he wasn't hungry anymore and ran with it very far.

Summary
The constant beeping of the heart machine is a comfort because that means that Buck is alive. When Eddie got to L.A. he wasn’t sure if that would be the case. That terrified him to his core. The thought of being in a world where one Evan Buckley wasn’t there. Eddie was in Texas when he got the call. The moment he heard Bobby’s voice say “You need to get to L.A. Eddie.” It felt like his world was upside down.
Or
Buck is injured and Eddie has to deal with the fallout and potentially losing him after he has finally figured out that he loves him.
This is the first part following immediately after the injury and in the hospital.

Summary
April 17th. The day it all went wrong. The worst call to ever happen happened to the 118. They were called into a lab with a deadly virus, everyone made it out alive, well except one person. Their beloved captain, Bobby Nash died while saving his team. Everyone in the 118 was devastated about Bobby’s death. It hit all of them like a brick, some more than others.
El Paso, Texas. It was a sunny and calm day. Eddie had been spending the day with Christopther and it was an amazing day, being able to finally spend time with his son.
It was about 10 pm, Chris had gone to sleep and Eddie decided to just relax on the couch for a few hours before he went to sleep. Then. His phone rang.
The caller I.D read, Tommy Kinard. That’s weird. Why the hell was Tommy calling him? He’d been ignoring him ever since Tommy and Buck broke up. He decides to pick up the phone.

He stopped breathing and slowly opened his eyes. For a second, he just stared at the man standing in the doorway. The man, so familiar yet so strange. His best friend, but someone he barely knew anymore.
“Eddie?” he whispered.
Or: Eddie moves away and leaves Buck alone in his house. Buck is left, again, and reverts to some not so healthy habits. There is also a fire, some hurt/comfort, and some reconciliation.

Summary
Buck and Tommy haven’t even been together for two months when Buck starts thinking about ending things. He hates himself for it, a little. He can’t put his finger on why the thought crosses his mind as he lays with his head on Tommy’s lap while they watch a documentary about a Napali mountaineer’s quest to summit the 14 peaks. It might have something to do with the put upon sigh Tommy had let out before agreeing to watch it with him. Or perhaps it was the fact that his fingers didn’t end up carding through Buck’s hair until he asked him to do it.
Buck knows that he could talk to someone about it. He has plenty of people who would be willing to listen but each time he goes to say something he remembers how proud they were of him when they found out about Tommy. They’re happy for him and already have so many other things to be upset about. He’s made them worry about him too many times already; it’s better if they think he’s finally okay.
