Summary
Six years after the failed hextech experiment and the explosion in Heimerdinger’s lab that tore them apart, Jayce and Viktor unexpectedly cross paths again when Jayce visits Viktor’s workshop, unaware it’s his. Despite the tension, Jayce’s trust issues run deep from their past, making him hesitant to let Viktor back into his life. However, their meeting sparks more frequent contact, and as they talk through the unresolved feelings between them, Jayce eventually offers to work for Viktor, hoping to make up for the harsh words he once said. Viktor initially declines, but knowing Jayce’s persistence, he eventually gives in. As they face the past that still haunts them, neither can ignore the feelings they’ve buried—or the chance to finally confront them.

“Viktor, turn it off! If you don’t we-” but it was a little too late. The resonance of the hex crystal got out of control, it felt like a thunderstorm forming in the small lab room. Viktor dropped the lever out of shock, realizing that Jayce was right but his blindness was the cause of this. He should’ve listened to what Jayce said.

Summary
The Machine Herald is captured by Piltover after a failed attack on the bridge, and he is mortally wounded in the process. Jayce must risk everything to save him and repair the damage done, racing against the clock as Piltover hunts him down for treason, but the history between them complicates things. Despite his claims that his actions are no longer dictated by emotion, Viktor is still harboring anger and hatred for his exile in the wake of Jinx's attack, and blames Jayce for what happened. But despite it all, they still care about each other (in their own violent, traumatized ways) and as time runs out, necessity forces them to face the past—and each other—if they want to get out of this unscathed.

“ Jayce’s favourite lives - and he knows he shouldn't have favourites but he does, he can’t help it - are the ones where he meets Viktor early in life.
He often does not remember his past lives when he is reborn. Viktor is usually the one who retains some sense of who they are to each other, seeking him out and drawing him in, but in this life Jayce is the one searching.
He doesn’t know what, exactly, it is he is searching for. He is eight years old, new to Piltover and trying to settle in, but he just can’t. He is restless, impatient. His father is gone, his mother almost followed, and the only reason why she didn’t was because some magician showed up. A magician. How is one supposed to settle in when one didn’t know what the heck was going on?
So, he threw caution to the wind, and let that ache in his chest lead him where he needed to go. Magic was real, and ever since that rock - so blue, and warm, and beautiful - was dropped into his hand, that ache had appeared; and what other conclusion was he to draw other than the two were connected?”
