He grabbed the kid and started walking, tugging him along without much thought. He didn’t know where he was going. Or why. He just knew he wanted to spend more time with him.

He was always cold. It didn’t matter how much he tried to warm himself up, how long he’d scald his skin under boiling showers, how many blankets he curled up under, Sangwoo was always cold.
He’d been cold since the final day of the games. He’d been soaked in rain, clothes sticking uncomfortably to his skin along with patches of dried blood, sand digging into his back. When he took Gihun’s hand, and they were led back through to the main room, the cold air seeped into his bones and made its bed there. Seeing that piggy bank in front of them, completely empty, made Sangwoo so unwell that he almost passed out.

OR: Sangwoo takes Gihun's hand in the final game and they leave with nothing, just to return years later.

A nice little fix-it fanfic about SQUID GAME players in the afterlife, and some aspects of an AU are included. The whole thing mainly follows the line of the show, and this starts during Season 3, in Sky Squid Game. There are many perspectives, but I won't name all of them because spoilers-most of the time in this fanfic is spent in the afterlife. Plus some chapters have a group chat, so ig this is also partially chatfic
