Bucky woke up with a headache, a mouth that tasted like something had died in it, and hands-down, swear-to-god, the most beautiful man he had ever seen asleep in his lap.
Bucky was also, he realized after a moment, strapped down to a hospital bed with about six different monitors making unsynced, equally piercing, beeps. Beyond that he couldn’t quite see—there was a hideous floral curtain pulled around the bed, and while he could just make out figures moving in the room beyond it, the pattern made his head pound even worse the longer he looked at it.
So. That was concerning.

His eyes open up and catch Cobb’s dead on. “Don’t leave it here.”
“Partner, it’s pinned...”
“If... The signet on the pauldron should go to the child. Please.”
He can feel his nostrils flare, some unconscious flood of anger and frustration venting itself from his body. He finds the latch with his left hand and works it loose, but uses his metal one to dig into the fabric underneath and rip until the shoulder of the shirt tears free, since they can’t get to the glove or vambrace on that side, and he’s praying the arm, much like the rest of him, will squeeze out like a tube of nutrient paste when it comes time. “You wanna give something to your kid, you’re gonna have to do it yourself, you hear?”(Or, Cobb gets wind of a certain Mandalorian in trouble in his neck of the dune sea. Set after S2 of Mandalorian and after S1 of Book of Boba Fett and contains assumed spoilers for all).

Early in his career Din had been warned about Felucian plant life. He should’ve passed the warning onto Cobb before they landed. In both their defences; Cobb hadn’t intended to fall face first into the neon blue fungi when he slipped chasing their mark and Din probably should’ve put his helmet on despite his misgivings about where he currently stood vis a vis his Creed.
Din and Cobb working together, falling together, accidentally getting sex pollened together.

It’s been three days since Din returned to Mos Pelgo (now Freetown). Three days since he and Boba Fett agreed that Din should stay there for the time being, to help protect the town against any other spice runners that wanted to cause trouble. Three days, since Din saw again the lengths that Marshal Cobb Vanth would go to in order to keep his people safe; three days since Din had helped Marshal Vanth put a group of forward scouts for the Syndicate down.
Three days, since Din watched Vanth crush a Pyke’s chest under his boot. Three days, since the Marshal – transcendent and dazzling in his simmering wrath – ground that Pyke’s face into the sand with that same boot.
It’s been three days since Din wished, foolishly, fervently, that it were him under Vanth’s boot.
