“You can’t still seriously believe –”
“You were there,” he hisses at her. “You saw the flowers. The doctor Dad saw –”
“Was a hack,” she scoffs.
“ – gave him a copy of the X-rays to prove what Mamo was saying was true!” His whisper raises in exasperation at the end. “Can we not argue about this again? Not right now.” He glances down at Joanie pointedly.
“I’m worried about you,” she says. “Do you plan on being single for the rest of your life?”
“Yes,” Steve says, firmly.

Bookmarker's Notes
THE Hanahaki fic. Great characterization, solid angst, absurdly believable in the frame of a hard to believe trope--and a version of John McGarrett still superior to canon.

“What does that mean, done? What about this,” he motions to the office. “Work. Are you done with that too?”
Steve’s eyes flicker to the floor and back up. He doesn’t look in Danny’s eyes, but at the fading cut and yellowing bruise that adorn his face in the low light. “I’ll brief the others in the morning. You can partner up with Kono.”

Bookmarker's Notes
a classic in the fandom--Danny deals poorly with his interpretation that Steve is casual about their sexual relationship. eventually they figure it out. great imagery, punchy prose, lots of feelings

Summary
Act normal, Danny thinks, which is stupid because he gave up normal with HPD and the ties and the keys to his car. He gave up normal with his complete and utter dependency on a man who thinks Loco Moco is a legitimate food choice. Danny’s not sure what normal is any more, not even his normal, because he just kissed Steve.

Summary
It starts with a mewling dumpster. Meka’s steps falter and he falls silent mid-sentence, so for a second, Danny freezes, automatically on high alert.
Then he hears it. “Mew,” the dumpster says, full of woe.
Or: When HPD Detective Danny Williams rescues a Navy SEAL’s cat from a dumpster, he doesn’t expect to be getting a visit from the entirety of the Governor’s elite major crimes taskforce in the middle of the night.

Bookmarker's Notes
|It all makes Danny a little nervous – because of the gun, of course, not because this guy’s face is inches from his, even though he is a bit uncomfortably close and even more uncomfortably pretty.|

Bookmarker's Notes
""This," he murmurs, as Steve strokes his spine; it's this lazy touch that he craved; this that grounds him; these soft kisses that he needed most of all."
