Summary
“Never land, Ice,” Mav said with a grin. “Never land.”
Ice was landing. He was in Monterey in pursuit of a desk, according to Maverick. Truthfully, he was studying for a degree in Information Strategy and Political Warfare. Mav whistled appreciatively when Ice told him that.
“They’ll be creamin’ themselves to get you in their command, Ice. You’ll be licking all the brass-ass you want before you know it.”
Ice scowled and shoved Maverick’s shoulder roughly, but added under his breath, before he walked away, “Bullshit—they can lick mine.”

Summary
A love confession stumbles out of Maverick one night, and it shreds his most important bond, the one he shares with Ice, into tatters.
When Admiral Kazansky shows up to Maverick's training detachment, maybe the aviator will find out that the thread between them wasn't as weak as he thought.
