He’s just impulsive. Forgetful. And, he realizes as he sorts through his bag with all the desperation of someone who thought he’d for sure remembered his heat suppressants, a bad packer.
Except apparently he forgot the heat suppressants. It’s one in the morning in this tiny haunted town with a pharmacy that closed at 8:00PM, and definitely no heat centers. He’s trapped here, in this Airbnb, all alone, and about to go into heat.
