David stared at the floor, recalling his set of vague memories from the last time he was there. He remembered the darkness he'd woken up with, the sense of somehow knowing that this was it. He remembered setting the note he'd written two days prior on the dresser along with his rings, hoping he'd explained it all well enough for Patrick and Stevie and Alexis and his parents and whoever the fuck else to forgive him someday.
