Summary
Adriana doesn’t tell their parents that she’s going to LA. She doesn’t tell Eddie, either—or ask, for that matter.
She does ask Chris, and he thinks it’s a good idea—says as much, on the phone, and doesn’t say much else.
“Buck will probably be hovering,” is what Chris does volunteer.
It still surprises her when the man who opens the door is not Eddie. It’s—Captain America, is the thing that actually comes to mind—a man close to a foot taller than she is, if not more than that, with blond curls and broad shoulders, and he’s got a question in his very blue eyes that’s probably less friendly than the one he actually asks her.
“Uh,” he says. “Can I help you?”
—
Or: Adriana arrives in LA. Maddie has been here the whole time.

Summary
Having a machine gun pointed at his face really wasn’t what he’d had on his case bingo today.
Spencer had a choice here – he could keep playing this funny game where he acted like a defenseless dumbass (who was coincidentally a total genius) in front of a group of incredibly experienced profilers. He could let his lip wobble and his hands tremble and Hotch take lead with no real knowledge of how experienced the man was with hostage situations. He could put his fate into his unit chief's hands.
Or he could kill Philipp Dowd with a single headshot and prevent this whole thing from going wrong. He just needed to get the guy's attention far enough away from Hotch that he could take the gun out of his ankle holster and take his shot. That was all he had to do; a simple plan that took him about five seconds to construct, path to resolution.
He was never one to put his fate in other people's hands. His CIA career proved that well enough.
Spencer started talking before Hotch could.

Summary
Mrs. Young smiled. “As teachers, we don't get to sit down and talk one on one with each child as much as they deserve. This assignment always grants me a beautiful insight to my students. Their proudest accomplishments, their darkest moments, or even some facts I've never known.”
She lifted a hand to her heart. “So with that, I would like all of you hear from one of the most beautiful essays I've had the pleasure of reading, from one of the-” she sighed. “-funniest kids I've met. Please welcome Christopher Diaz.”
...Christopher smiled into the microphone. "My name is Christopher Diaz. Here's my essay."
"Dear abandoning dead Mom."
The silence from the audience was deafening.
"Oh god." Eddie whispered beside him.

Summary
Evan “Buck” Buckley was not an honest person as much as he would like to be or even was trying to be in his own way. His dishonesty wasn’t malicious in the slightest though. He had his reasons, of course, but his entire identity was built on a shaky Jenga tower of lies. As much as he built it up, one by one the blocks were still removed over the years making the tower less and less stable.
Buck joined the 118 fresh out of the Navy and braced himself for all the questions that were about to come his way which he did not want to answer. Then, like a gift from above, somehow and shockingly, no one had read his resume, and he found he could start all over again, be a new person, someone completely different or maybe who he was supposed to be all along.

"Did I hear the doorbell earlier?"
"Yeah, but I'd steer clear if I were you. It seemed a little tense. I don't know what's going on, but there's a kid out there who looks freakily like the prof."
Nearly six months after Cuba, Charles' life is turned upside down for the second time. Though he's slowly learning to adapt to the first, he's not sure he can handle the second. Luckily for him, there are a few people out there more than willing to help.
