Summary
a collection of kidfic snippets that I've been posting on tumblr for many, many years:
“…did she just say fuck?” Matt says, faintly. “Was that her first word?”
He’s better at recognizing what Mary’s saying when she’s delightedly or angrily or sleepily babbling at them. But Foggy was already pretty sure that their tiny, adorable, grinning daughter, bouncing in Matt’s arms, just said, “Fuck!” in a charming baby slur.
“We ruined her,” Foggy says. “We have to exchange her for a new one.”
Matt’s quiet for a long time and Mary falls quiet, too, looking between them with clear suspicion.
“I’m trying not to laugh,” Matt says, slowly and evenly, lips twitching, “so we don’t validate it.”
“She does love getting a laugh,” Foggy agrees, biting his lip.
“Who do you think she learned that from?” Matt asks, but he’s smiling, shifting Mary so she’s sitting on his hip, one hand fisted in his t-shirt.

Definitely an example of an AU done right. Matt's wings add a new, yet familiar dimension to some of his inner and outer conflicts that puts a fresh spin on certain canon events.
