If there was one secret Hawks always kept to himself, it was that he liked to write his own songs and sing. He couldn't bear it if someone found out and told the Commission, and they found some way of profiting of it and taking this final piece of himself and making that their own too, so he never let a single soul hear him sing.
At least until Dabi entered his apartment one night without warning.

After Neal breaks into Peter's house and lies to Mozzie, he collapses onto Peter's bed, clutching the picture frame of him and his coworkers in the FBI office close to his heart, crushed under the weight of his own betrayal of both of his friends and unable to bring himself to flee the scene of his crime.
Peter returns home early from his stakeout to find his C.I. in his room, dressed in all black, having a breakdown, looking exhausted, and tired beyond measure of lying.
