Summary
Detective Charles Leclerc likes things neat: clean crime scenes, airtight logic, and not catching feelings for contract killers. Unfortunately, Max Verstappen is none of those things—and he's now Charles’s morally questionable informant with an infuriating face and a suspicious habit of being exactly where Charles doesn’t want him.
Across the city, chaos ensues when spies start sleeping with assassins, loyalty lines blur, and very bad plans somehow turn out worse. There’s something rotten at the core of the RedBull crime syndicate, and it’s going to take a lot of trust, sharp knives, and emotional damage to bring it down.

It’s rather a quiet affair. Jannik is so concentrated on alternating between looking at the sky and the screen that Carlos doesn’t even feel awkward for the silence that settles between them. He lays down, puts a hand under his head and stares up at the sky, at the stars, and tries to let the moment seep into his skin, get branded deep in his memory — Jannik’s huffs of breath, the way he clicks his tongue when the thinks, his earthy scent.
Carlos wishes he could touch him.
“What do you usually do in your free time?”
As soon as the sentence leaves Carlos’ mouth, he cringes.
Jannik gives him a strange look. “I look for extraterrestrial life. But you know that.”

“Hi,” Oscar said. “Just know this is the only time you will ever see Lando here early. He’s usually running into class during pliés.”
Charles tried not to cringe at the terrible French pronunciation. While, yes, he was not French and therefore really not one to talk about French accents, this was just painful. Hopefully, it would only be Oscar who pronounced it this badly.
“Good to meet you.”
“Wait, where are you from?” Lando asked, “Are you French?”
Charles had never been so insulted in his entire goddamn life.
“I am from Monaco! Monaco is not France!”
Or: Charles is a piano accompanist for a ballet class. Max is a ballet dancer. They enemies to lovers it.
