Altaïr chuckles breathlessly till it fades out into a relieved sigh. From the incline of his head Malik sees nothing but a flash of teeth, owing the hood.
Sometimes they know exactly how to treat each other, and other times they were too afraid of regressing back to hatred that they played overly and awkwardly careful. More often than not, in moments of anger they would still grate each other's nerves till they were both sore. Their dialogue is not restricted by the audience of the celebration further away, but Malik thinks they are still to learn the intricacies of casual conversation.

As he tosses and turns in bed in complete darkness, replaying the events of the night in his mind, he realises he may not be as alone in the room as he'd previously thought. There comes an opportunity. Perhaps touch could convey what words failed to express earlier. It's not an apology. Not really.

Hob should have fucking known Dream, in his Endless lifetime, had learned how to wield such a weapon. Should have known when Dream came prepared with black leather gauntlets up to his elbows and supple black leather pants that would provide protection in addition to range of movement.
He just hadn’t thought… well, that didn’t matter now. Just leave it at that. Hob hadn’t thought.
Hob needs someone to sub in for an edged weapons demo very last minute. He probably should have been suspicious when Dream offered.
