“Are you alright?”
Luke blinks hard - he’s not gonna cry in front of a stranger, he’s not - and looks up. His seatmate is staring at him. Vaguely, Luke recognizes him from the queue at the gate. He takes a deep breath. “Not so much, but for the purpose of this conversation, I will be.”
Which, in retrospect, didn’t make him sound like a sane person, but what the hell. His day can’t get any worse. His voice comes out higher than he expects and wobbles dangerously at the end of the sentence.
The man, bless him, looks momentarily puzzled but, instead of backing off and finding himself virtually whatever seat is affordable, he just shrugs, as if saying fair enough. He sits next to him and, after a moment of deliberation, offers him a tissue.
“I won’t judge, promise”, he says quietly, as if he’s talking to a spooked animal.
Luke holds the tissue between his fingers like a precious relic and, promptly, bursts into tears..

or Viago and Anton navigate their relationship, Deacon learns to crochet, Vladislav is an unbothered king, the werewolves are not swearwolves but a bunch of unruly children and Tilda only wants some fresh gossip

From the other side of the room, Vladislav and Deacon glare insistently at the werewolf.

Rapid fire thoughts in French pour into his head, each more hysterical sounding than the last. He recognizes “merde”, “putain”, and “pensée” and that’s it. Unhelpful.

Charles’ eyes get even bigger, his eyebrows shooting up to his hairline. He makes a noise that if Max were a slightly less merciful person he would call a squeak. Watching him make the absolutely unhinged connection in real time is fascinating. Then carefully, in tentative English, You are hearing my thoughts?
Miserable, Max nods. Then shrugs. Fuck.
“Max,” Charles practically hisses, his grip on Max’s hand going tighter. The pinprick of his nails feels like the only thing connecting Max to the earth. “What the fuck?”

Craning his neck behind them, Daniel laughs his loud, creaky hyena laugh. “Don’t look now, but he’s still watching.”
“Who?”
“Chuck.”
“Chuck. There’s no way he lets you call him that,” Max says, voice rife with disbelief. He also can’t help it—he turns around, jostling Daniel’s arm over his shoulder to look back toward the media pen. Charles is in fact still watching them disappear down the paddock. His head is tilted to one side, a look of consideration on his pretty face. He doesn’t look actively upset, but he doesn’t look particularly happy either. Fuck.
“He doesn’t let me do anything. I just sort of do it and he laughs and blushes and looks at me with his big cow eyes.”
“Big cow eyes,” Max repeats, disbelieving yet again.
“Not actually, but sort of,” Daniel says, grin making his eyes crinkle. What the fuck.
“He’s blushing at you?” Max sounds petulant. Jealous, even. He needs to get a grip.

Summary
A soulmate, by definition, was someone chosen for him by God, and whom he was chosen for in return. It signified love and respect, both of which Aldo never imagined having for Tedesco, or being received from him. He was confined to a soulmate who would never even dare try to love him.
