Dirty-blonde curls tucked under a knit beanie and stubble to match, kind eyes and a sweet smile and a light smearing of freckles across his cheekbones and a ridiculous name like Dream of all things and George hopes to god this guy is more interesting than his first message suggests because he already thinks he’s developed a bit of a crush and having that ruined by some loser who can’t hold a conversation would be a total buzzkill.
i like minecraft too! never figured out the whole coding thing though :( made anything cool?

Every evening, right before dinnertime, Dream shows up at his door with a giant smile and an invitation to join him for dinner, and no matter how many times George begs off–usually using work as an excuse, taking advantage of the fact that Dream has no idea what he actually does for his job–Dream keeps coming back. He feels bad turning him down, and a voice in his head that sounds a lot like his mother reminds him that he can’t hide away from his problems forever, but at this point, it almost feels like he’s too late. Like he’s said no so many times that agreeing would turn into some huge deal and it would be uncomfortable and George would have to move again.
or, george moves to florida on a whim to escape a painful breakup. instead, he finds a place he can call home and a person who shows him how to be happy again.

Summary
If there’s one thing George knows, it’s that he hates Dream. He always has and he always will. Even after their parents get married, George hates Dream.
When he goes away to college, he thinks that he’ll finally get the chance to escape, only to have that ruined by Dream, too. Not only did he get accepted to the very same university to play for their football team, but even worse, they also have to share a dorm room.
But as George watches his stepbrother work harder and harder for an ungrateful team, balancing newfound fame and a resurfacing deadbeat dad, something horrible happens. George starts to empathize with Dream.

“C’mon Dream - aren’t you afraid they might break your heart?”
To George, that was the crux of the issue: the balance between vulnerability and protection, the memory of pain - of sleepless nights and hungover mornings, his tired arms packing yet another box of books left behind -, and how to put it all aside to try again. He didn’t think he had it in him anymore, especially to be willing to do so in such a short window of time.
“But what if I find the love of my life?” Dream countered, ducking his head to hide his boyish smile. “I think it’s worth the risk.”
Oh. George’s heart squeezed, painful, like bruised knees on a playground, like burning his tongue on a too-hot drink on a first date, from all the stuff crushes were made of - at least, when they were like this. All it took was a spark and Dream was bright enough to set it off by mistake.

Summary
Humans are banned from touching other species in the galaxy, but George, a cat-hybrid, takes a leap of faith and lets the human aboard his ship, Dream, pet him. It awakens a side of George he’s desperate to satisfy, and Dream is more than willing to meet all of George’s needs.

“Dream,” George whined, head butting his forehead against the side of Dream’s neck. “I just want to sleep. Please pet me until I fall asleep.”
George felt the way Dream’s breathing increased and his body temperature rose. The breathing thing was a bit annoying, since it moved George, but the added warmth was more than welcomed.
“Okay… okay, I’ll pet you,” Dream finally agreed, maneuvering the both of them until he could lay back in bed, holding George tightly to his chest. He hadn’t even resumed petting him before George started purring happily again, his tail curling around one of Dream’s legs in the process.
“Humans are… really warm, just like starlight,” George mumbled, his thoughts escaping him.
“George-” Dream paused, tangling his fingers in George’s hair. “Just go to sleep, baby. Get some rest.”
