Zuko is courting Katara, and with every passing day finds new and insane ways of showing that he would quite literally move the spirit world and earth to make her happy.
In hindsight, it probably would've been better if Sokka had realised he was in love with Zuko at literally any time before this. Or preferably, never fallen for his best friend in the first place.

And if only he can figure out how to make sure Zuko likes her without revealing the whole, you know. Fire Lord thing.

Sokka should have drowned… and he would have drowned, if not for a certain Fire Nation raft fleeing the North Pole.
[An enemies-to-lovers season 2 rewrite, where Sokka is separated from the gaang during the Siege of the North, and travels the Earth Kingdom with Zuko instead].

“Holy shit,” Kent whispers. He drops Jack’s face like he’s been burned.
“What?” Bittle asks. He moves closer to where Kent is motioning, reaches out to touch Jack’s forehead. Jack jerks away from his hand.
Jack’s right eyebrow is intact, missing that little scarred gap from he got from eating shit on the concrete on Rue St. Germaine.
That must have been 2009, Easter break of their draft year, because that was right about when Jack’s drinking slid from ‘concerning’ to ‘scary’ and he started doing things like taking a swing at Poulie’s older brother, slipping on ice, and busting his head open on the sidewalk.
“I think he’s—” Kent takes three wild steps backward. “I think he's eighteen.”

the comment i left on this fic: "ahhh such a great fic!! i think this might be the most vivid a portrayal of jack at 18 that ive seen, perhaps all the more so for being in this future context, instead of through the eyes of teenage parse or through future jack's own narrative of his past self.
i really liked kent's emotional journey throughout this, it was understated but really well grounded. you can see that this kent has come a long ways from where he was as a teeanager, or even as he was in the comics, and he gets to realize that himself throughout. but you know, still messing up sometimes and growing.
sorry for bitty who definitely ended the fic less at peace than he was prior, but honestly... good on him for being angry and not letting jack off the hook entirely. I'd be curious to see what happens when they're back in Providence... maybe this is what they needed to finally have frank conversations about the hard stuff... or maybe it breaks the trust"
