Summary
Komaeda's skin was slick with sweat, mattress soaked where he’d left an ovular imprint. Salt air brushed beneath his nose, lip dripping over something chapped. His mouth was open, panting, a cold sport’s drink in his hands, wrists dangling over the edge of the dock.
Sometimes it feels like his skin weeps for him. Like *that’s* why lymphoma causes the sweats. Almost poetic. His legs shake, the chronic pain ramping, and he breathes the Pacific air through his nose and imagines morphine through an IV drip as he counts down from ten. By the time he realizes the laughter has become crying, he can’t stop. There’s casino music in his head.

Komaeda's been alone so long he forgets what its like to have anyone around to hear him cry.
Hinata hears the story behind some of Komaeda's belief system, and Komaeda gets more than he gambled for.

Summary
There is a recurring dream that always comes to Trunks when his sleep is restless and fickle, his soldier body ready to rouse awake at a pin’s drop to ward off any impending threat: he is twenty years old, and he is watching his young mother burn alive in the wreckage of a plane, holding her wailing baby to her breast. Trunks blinks, and then he finds himself in that infant’s body, looks up as his skin chars, and finds his father’s face among the flames.
(Future Trunks is back in the present for good and freed from his multitude of worldly burdens, but some wounds don’t heal so easily.)

Summary
Trunks knows it's stupid. He knows. They've known each other since they were babies — more than that, they've been the same fucking person more times than he could possibly count. There's no way he should be struggling so much with this, no reason at all that this shouldn't be just as perfect as he'd always thought it would. They've shared a body; they've spent more time together than apart for the past eighteen or so years. He's pretty sure their mothers would argue that they've basically lived together for years now. There's no reason they shouldn't be fucking perfect roommates.
And yet.
Or: oh my god, they were roommates, a love story.
