‘Do you have dreams, specimen?’ the assistant asks, ‘not that you might answer such a question. Not yet, at least.’
Daniel's been dreaming quite often, actually. Always of the assistant. Sometimes he imagines them out together in the locations he's seen on the television. Other times his dreams are less… innocent. The assistant uses his thumbs to lower Daniel's eyelids, brushing over them a few times. He then unfolds a surgical drape, covering Daniel with it from the chest down as though it were a bedsheet.
