Summary
Trinity owed half the ED favors to be fighting a panic attack as she sat in the back of an uber heading to the DC suburbs, Yolanda beside her. She’d worked Thanksgiving and would be working on New Year’s, but she’d been able to take three days off to spend Christmas with Yolanda’s family. It was late, nearly midnight, since they’d taken a flight after a full shift at work, but Trinity was so wired with nerves that she didn’t feel tired at all.
“Calm down,” Yolanda said, reaching over to gently pull Trinity’s hand away from her mouth. She hadn’t noticed that she’d been biting her nails. “Everything’s going to be fine.”
“Sorry,” Trinity said as Yolanda’s fingers threaded through hers. “I guess I’m a little nervous.”
“There’s nothing to be nervous about,” Yolanda squeezed her hand tighter. “Everyone’s going to love you.”
Trinity nodded, not bothering to point out the fact that not even her own family loved her since that probably wouldn’t help.
