Shane was loved. By hockey and its fans. By Yuna and David.
There were friends and neighbours who had gotten to watch Shane grow up. They were around for teething, picky eating, meltdowns, and growth spurts. Through summer holidays to Christmas parties, they watched Shane grow up. And they loved him. The whole time.
There was not a person in this world who could say the same about Ilya.
