“i don’t feel like i can be close to you.” the crackling of the fire continued to fill the silence with each pause jiseok took. “i mean, we’re close – even right now, but i mean, you know…” jiseok quickly glanced towards jooyeon who shifted his body, clearing his throat a bit.
“how close?” jooyeon whispered, voice indifferent, maybe slightly confused. it made jiseok shift uncomfortably, eyes averting every which way. he sucked in a breath. maybe backing out of this was the better option. his entire being felt bare, like he was shedding his skin in front of jooyeon, showing every mark and scar and unspoken feeling that laid upon him underneath all the clothing and the skin that he wore. it was the first time he ever felt truly vulnerable towards someone, and that was a scary feeling.
(or, jiseok and jooyeon are running away from their own respective problems with each other by their sides.)
