Summary
The snow is falling on Christmas for once, and the trees are glistening, but Henry can’t get out of bed. He’s scared to look at the pictures his phone tells him Alex just posted. Scared that he will see how happy Alex is without him. Terrified that he will see her in the pictures of the Claremont-Diaz festivities.
The colorful lights are shining outside Henry’s window and he can’t move his head from his pillow because he hasn’t talked to the love of his life in four months.

Realistically, Henry knows that being brought up in a ‘decorum and appearances are everything’ environment has done a number on him, and probably traumatized him more than he cares to admit. He knows he gets easily embarrassed by mundane, everyday things that other people don’t think twice about.

Summary
Henry’s heart starts beating faster, as it always does when Alex is concerned. What Henry didn't foresee is the heart monitor, which he is still sadly hooked up to, betraying him like this. It starts beeping louder than before. He’s pretty sure he hears someone in the room snort, but he’s too focused on Alex to check.
“How are you feeling?” Alex slides into the empty chair next to his bed. “Are you okay?” his eyes keep roaming over Henry’s body, like he’s looking for hidden injuries.
“I’m okay. I feel fine,” Henry tries to reassure him, but then Alex takes Henry’s hand in his, and his heart starts pounding again. The frantic beeping of the heart monitor makes Henry flush. Christ, it’s so embarrassing.
