    Working in delivery, Sonic jumped from town to town, never staying in one place for too long. There was much to be afraid of in this world. Of mobians who feared his kind and would kill them if discovered; hunters that sought his kind to make a profit off of in the guild; and his own kind, who fought each other over territory and prey.

    As a nightwalker, Sonic lived his life in fear. That is until he is brought to a refuge for nightwalkers of all types to coexist peacefully, owned by a peculiar hedgehog he finds himself indebted to.

    It was an easy decision to listen to Rouge, to trust her insight to the workings of the socio-emotional contracts of GUN. It was a simple plan too; all Shadow needed to do was drag Sonic to a party-- be seen beside the Hero of the world, and his own status would rise in response. GUN wanted Sonic-- And Rouge had easily predicted that they would reward Shadow for dragging the blue hedgehog closer.

    It was all a ploy for money. It was all a trick to use the Hero's status for his own benefit.
    It was all a mistake brought to fruition through a single word, and the world began to fall apart around them both in response.

    After the events of Frontiers the world has returned to the regular pace of life; slow.
    A break from war is welcome, by all but black and blue hedgehogs, who seem unable to fit into society without it.
    Two instruments of justice left without purpose struggle to adapt to a new world.
    They're set to create their own solution: distraction made by dragging the other along.

    When accidents lead to misunderstandings, it turns out for some, understanding sometimes comes a single word at a time.
