Virgil ignores him and stays under the radar and is infuriatingly smart. Virgil gets good grades and into fights, and either threatens or flirts with Roman.

Suguru’s feet come to a stop when they arrive at the main courtyard. “Satoru,” he says, but he can barely hear the words over the sound of his own heartbeat roaring in his ears.
“Yeah?” Satoru asks, turning around, and with the moonlight against his back, pouring silver into his hair, Suguru thinks he’s never seen a more beautiful person in his life.
Suguru swallows. “What’s that?” he manages to get out, pointing arbitrarily behind Satoru.
Satoru cranes his neck to peer behind him. “What’s what?”
When he turns back around, Suguru is on one knee.
Satoru’s eyes widen. “Suguru?”

Suguru can’t believe he's admitting this, but he desperately wants Satoru to annoy him again. Literally anything would be better than the awkward distance Satoru holds him at.
Instead, Satoru makes a face of disgust. He backs off Shoko, choosing to walk an arm’s distance away from them.
Suguru would’ve found his expression hilarious if he wasn’t so distraught.
Or, Satoru keeps avoiding Suguru. Suguru feels like he’s going insane.

“Suuguruuuuuu,” Satoru cries—
Suguru turns and shoves the lollipop into his mouth. Satoru cuts off abruptly, eyebrows jumping up as he closes his mouth automatically. His glasses are a centimeter away from sliding off his face, and Suguru pushes them back up without thinking about it.
“You’re disgusting,” Shoko gags, suddenly turning away like she’s been physically struck. “I’m going to bed. I hate you two. I’m killing you both in the morning.”
Suguru can’t help but laugh as she stalks away in the direction of her room.
Satoru unwinds himself from his arm, and there’s a faint smattering of red across his face as he takes the lollipop out of his mouth. “Where’s this from?”
Suguru shrugs. “I saw it when I was out today.”
“Oh,” Satoru replies, and his eyes seem a little dazed as he stares. The red doesn’t go away. “Thank you.”

“Yeah?” Satoru shrugs, leaning back against the bench. “Thought I’d be nice for a change.”
Suguru doesn’t buy it. “When have you ever done that? You don’t act generous for no reason. Not with strangers.”
“Wow,” Satoru says, mock-offended. “Do you hear yourself? Maybe I’ve changed. Maybe I’m maturing.”
Suguru just gives him a dry look.
“Or maybe I just thought she was cute,” he says, tipping his head to the side. “Ever think of that?”
