When Regulus Black was 19 he broke up with James Potter because he thought he didn’t know how to love. When he was 20, his brother told him that James was having a kid. When he was 30, he was teaching potions at Hogwarts, which was going swell, until one day when Harry Potter (aka the carbon copy of the boy whose heart he shattered) strolls into the Great Hall and effectively sends Regulus into a full blown panic.

He doesn't expect privacy, he's a celebrity after all. He doesn't expect his estranged brother to ever talk to him again, it's been over ten years. He certainly doesn't expect to fall in love.Then somehow James Potter comes along and flips every single one of those expectations on their head.
James Potter has a plan.
He's going to focus his career until the day he meets someone he can spend the rest of his life with and settle down. This plan does not include falling in love with his best friend's long-hated brother.James doesn't account for Regulus Black.

Summary
Children’s hair sometimes changes color as you grow. When he’s young enough for it not to be unusual, but old enough to know he’ll get in trouble for doing something ‘freakish’ again, Harry's hair goes from his father's dark locks to his mother's bright, most-likely-magical red hair.
It changes everything about who he identifies with, who he wants to grow up to be, and who he thinks he is. Instead of having James Potter as his idol, Lily turns out to be a much better influence.
So instead of seeing a scruffy, most-likely-muggleborn boy standing beside him in Madam Malkin's before their first year, Draco only has eyes for the scarlet-haired, green-eyed creature who just walked into his life.
