"Can't you ever be quiet?" Louis demanded. "Can't you ever just shut your fuckin' mouth?"
"I'd sew my lips shut if you ever asked me to, but then I couldn't touch you the way you like," Lestat crooned. "The way you need." He tugged Louis's bottom lip ever so gently, grinning and so obnoxiously pleased with himself.
"I've got half a mind to get outta here," Louis warned.
"A wonderful idea; we're spilling enough water over the floor as it is."
Louis inhaled sharply, hard enough that his lungs might rise out of his chest like a balloon, and he shook his head. "Just," he began, and suddenly he could feel the exhaustion rolling over him like a storm, steeping out from the marrow of his bones and into his blood, hitting him like a bag of bricks, the ache steamrolling over him. "Baby, I'm so tired," he croaked weakly. He nudged their foreheads together, and Lestat wiped away a tear that he couldn't hold in any longer. "I'm so tired."
"I'll take care of you," Lestat whispered just as softly as he meant it sincerely, grazing his knuckles over his cheekbone. No more joking, no more teasing. "Let me take you to back to bed."
