    “Finish your drink and come home with me.”

    He leans back and Shane’s eyes are impossibly deeper, a hunger filling them. He simply nods.

    Six Months Later

    Ilya follows Wiebe as they walk into the doctor’s lounge.

    “Here he is now. Dr. Hollander! Meet our ER attending, Dr. Rozanov.”

    Wiebe moves out of the way, and the new surgeon turns from where he’s been speaking to one of the surgery nurses. Ilya gasps.

    “Shane?” He blurts.

    “Ilya.”

    OR, Shane and Ilya have a one night stand. Six months later, Ilya is introduced to the new surgery attending, Dr. Hollander.

    "But you took the ring!" Masha argued back, incredibly reasonably.

    Ilya, still blank-faced, took a long moment to look between his daughter, Shane, and the ring in Shane's hand, evaluating the arguments he was presented with.

    "Well, she is right. You did take the ring." Ilya answered, straight-faced and logical, like this wasn't a ridiculous argument to be entertaining, let alone playing along with. How was this happening?

    In which youth hockey coach Shane Hollander faces a proposal from a 7-year-old, asking him to please marry her papa.
    Her papa, Ilya Rozanov, commits to the bit.
