She laughs when she's mad, all bold and sarcastic before throwing a deserving punch at an idiot who said the wrong words to her at the wrong time.
Right now? She's clutching her arms around her stomach, hoping her laughter would convince and hide the current emotion. Caitlyn's probably scowling at her right now which makes the moment all the while seem natural.
After all, she's laughing at her best friend.
For a pathetic reason on her side of the coin.

Loosely Based on these two prompts
Prompt 1:
Beatrice is injured during a mission but hides how bad her wound actually is to make sure she doesn’t distract her team and the mission is completed at all cost. Ava sensed something is wrong but as usual can’t argue with Bea’s logic. Cue some kind of dramatic reveal (blood stain, Bea collapsed, you name it) which then forces Ava and Bea to talk and Ava gets to care for Bea for once.Prompt 2:
Bea is hurt/sick but hides it so they can complete a mission. It makes it way worse and eventually the group finds out, preferably by dramatic reveal (like collapsing or something). Ava panics and maybe even blames herself and they have to talk. A canon-divergent reimagining of their time in Switzerland. Ava admits that she's worried that there won't be anything else for them, after the impending war with Adriel, and she wants as much out of their brief respite as she can have. Beatrice doesn't realize just how much.
First time writing fanfic in a while and apparently these two just bring it out in me, so here's 4k. I didn't imagine it with this much dialogue, but you know these two would be consent queens. Also first smut. I've read it too many times to know if it's good anymore, so here we are.

Except, when Beatrice turned the key in the lock, she knew immediately that the apartment was not empty. An unfamiliar sound was coming from their bedroom.
Beatrice set the grocery bags down, managing to avoid anything more than the softest crinkle of brown paper as they hit the countertop. The floorboards, normally old and creaky, were silent beneath her feet. She reached for the knife on her back, fingers wrapping around the handle as she got to the door, open just enough for Beatrice to peak inside and –

“I would have corrected him, Bea, believe me. But then he kept talking and was saying something about the party being super hush-hush and only those in the know were allowed in. And – I think I had him trusting me, enough to invite us to go, at least. So, I figured in that moment if I told him that we – that we weren’t, that we’re not,” Ava cleared her throat. “Well, I didn’t want to break that trust by telling him. We could’ve lost the invite, or something. And like you said – this would be a great opportunity for reconnaissance.”
“Reconnaissance,” Beatrice repeated, but her mind was miles away.

Summary
They hadn't been in Switzerland long, only a couple of months, and although the two girls were constantly on edge, hiding from a force for which they didn't completely know how to fight, Ava felt a strange... calmness around Beatrice. The way she held herself, the lilt of her accent, the way she was so keen on keeping Ava safe.
She often thought about Bea at the Cat's Cradle before she arrived. Was she this protective of the other sisters? Did her breath catch when she was in the presence of Sister Camilla, or Mary? Did she look at the other sisters the same way they looked at Ava? With this stern, intense gaze that Ava could never quite identify...

“You know, I’ve never shared a bed with anyone?” Ava said into the darkness. Her voice was resonant and low, already drenched in near-sleep. “Well, maybe my mom when I was a kid. I don’t really remember much from…before.”
Beatrice couldn’t remember a time that she had slept next to another person either, but she didn’t get a chance to admit to it before Ava cuddled further into her side.
“S’nice,” Ava said.
