Unemployment was not the best thing to ever happen to Connor, but it was high on the list. The best thing to ever happen to Connor was the sight of a Corgi wearing a small cowboy hat leashed to a post in front of the liquor shop. The second best thing to ever happen to him was the emancipation of his people from slavery and the opening of negotiations for equal rights. But unemployment may come in at a solid third.

Tommy was handed a small flyer in printed in black and white, with the words “POETRY NIGHT - OPEN MIC” splayed across the front in bubbled font. He fumbled with his binder as he took it, eyes wide as he said, “are you sure? I mean, I love poetry and all, but I don’t think-I’m not sure—what if I can’t write poetry?”
Mr. Sam’s dark eyes softened, and he reached out to place a hand on Tommy’s shoulder, squeezing it gently. “Everyone has to start somewhere; every poet, from me to Rudy Francisco, started off without knowing a clue about what we were doing. Tommy, it’s not about if you can or cannot write poetry, it’s about if you want to.”

Tommy's alive. Tubbo wasn't, earlier. He traces his way up to cup Tommy's face in his hands. Something snaps like a wishbone in his chest, then, something angry and protective, something righteous, and he could sharpen it to kill in an instant.
“Never do that again,” Tommy says, growling and loud and guilty with every word. Tubbo feels it rumble through his chest, ghost against his mouth, sit stock-still and terrified in his heart.
“I won't,” Tubbo promises.

Summary

It was Dream’s voice he heard as his last breaths rattled in his rotten, blackened lungs, thorns pressing into his arms. He was alone. He was scared. He let out a broken sob, blood trickling down his chin, tears pouring from his ruined eyes.
The last feeble lantern light wasted away into ash, and with it snuffed out TommyInnit’s soul.
