Summary
Professional Baseball Player Eddie Diaz and Professional Football Player Evan "Buck" Buckley have been married for the past six years, not that anyone outside of their close circle of friends and family knows that. But after they're photographed together and the internet starts going wild with sleuthing and conspiracy theories about their relationship, they're forced to consider whether or not the time may be right to come out publically.
-or-
“What about your blossoming “bromance” with Dodgers pitcher Eddie Diaz?”
He barks a laugh, still on edge from the previous question, but at the mention of Diaz, he softens. “I would hardly call it blossoming.” Buckley laughs with his full body, hands clapping in front of him. “Just because the paparazzi haven’t gotten pics before doesn’t mean we just met!”
“So you’ve been friends for a while?”
“Oh yeah,” he leans back in his chair, using his hands for emphasis as he continues, “Eddie and I have known each other a looong time.” He grins, “You think I’d ask Taylor Swift if she’d make friendship bracelets for just anyone?”

Mrs. Young smiled. “As teachers, we don't get to sit down and talk one on one with each child as much as they deserve. This assignment always grants me a beautiful insight to my students. Their proudest accomplishments, their darkest moments, or even some facts I've never known.”
She lifted a hand to her heart. “So with that, I would like all of you hear from one of the most beautiful essays I've had the pleasure of reading, from one of the-” she sighed. “-funniest kids I've met. Please welcome Christopher Diaz.”
...Christopher smiled into the microphone. "My name is Christopher Diaz. Here's my essay."
"Dear abandoning dead Mom."
The silence from the audience was deafening.
"Oh god." Eddie whispered beside him.

Summary
Buck was woken by the incessant buzzing of his phone a mere couple of hours after he got off his shift.
As he reached for his phone he went through the list of people that could be trying to contact him so badly right after a shift. His first thought was that it was Eddie, but they hadn’t talked since he told the team he was leaving the 118 during the Christmas party and it was now February. It could have been Christopher, texting or Facetiming as they had been often, but he should be at school. His next thought was that it was Maddie, but she was still not picking up his calls. He thought maybe Taylor, but they had run into each other as he got back this morning and she knew he had been planning on sleeping and she was working all day. None of them were viable candidates for who was texting him, but they still were all more likely than the name he saw on his screen.

Buck knew that he had a daughter since the lawsuit, but he wasn’t allowed to be in her life until his was falling apart. He wasn’t sure whether he could consider his team family anymore, but with his daughter now in his life, he had to figure it out.
