Summary
“Tell me what I don’t get,” Sunghoon pleaded. She put her head in the crook of Sunoo’s neck.
Sweat, faded perfume, sweet wine and bitter beer.
Her mind was a mess of hot desire and cold agony. She begged again, she thought. Sunghoon wasn’t entirely sure if she was still speaking, or crying out in pain.
Sunghoon is convinced that Sunoo will never reciprocate her desire. Maybe she’s too much, or not enough, or maybe it’s not about her, at all.

Summary
Sunghoon’s throat tightened, not quite sure what to say. “I’m not very good at that. Trusting people.”
“That’s okay,” Sunoo said simply. “But if you need someone—whether it’s to talk, eat, or even cry some more…”
“You say that like it's simple. Like if I called you up, it wouldn’t be weird.”
“It can be that simple. And when are we not weird Sunghoon-ssi? I mean, we’ve just spent the past half hour crying together. It just happened, because it’s simple—You’re sad and I’m here.”
In which, Sunghoon’s skin breaks out from breakup stress, and Sunoo, a cosmetologist, helps him fix a lot more than he bargained for.

Summary
“Sunghoon-ah, did you know there’s a god sleeping beneath this mountain?”
“I don’t think that’s possible, Halmeoni.”
“My, my, you are the only kid I know who doesn’t believe in magic.”
“It’s fake! Like on TV! If magic were real, people would... I don’t know… probably live forever?”
“Silly child. You shouldn’t wish for eternity.”
When Sunghoon chose to fly back to Korea and live at his grandmother’s old home, waking up a dormant mountain god was the last thing he had in mind.
