Chitose’s apologies fall on deaf ears as Koga leaned in and did his turn for the older idol. His response comes almost automatically, expecting the surge of regret that comes to him with every minor setback (which, admittedly, something a part of him has become exasperated over the magnitude of ‘sorry’s’ that Chitose gives because it’s fine. This is just a game. You’ve got it in ya to win. You’re just a li’l rusty over the years but so what. Who gives a damn. You’re here. You’re tryin’. That already stands for something. It ain’t gonna be the end of the fucking world if you killed me.)
Koga doesn’t say that though. He’s not that thick-skinned to cut off a match just to lecture someone he used to save up what little allowance he had to buy all the cards in the deck he’s now so proud of just to defeat him for.

Koga didn’t know what to think of them at first. They were annoying, for sure. The level of stress he experienced whenever he dealt with them matched the stress level he had whenever Leon had his shoe inside his mouth. Or a rock. Or something deep-fried and unsafe for dogs to eat because Hinata couldn’t stop making Yuta eat worms or dirt or dog toys or shoes. Sometimes they were shoes. Koga could swear there was sometimes spit on his expensive leather boots after a night of staying over at Rei’s.But they were not unexpected. Not to Koga, at least.

He didn’t join the cleaning crew for the Setsubun Festival. The guitarist didn’t know if he could face those twins after what he heard.
This was ridiculous. Even he was aware of it. He’s running away again from the idea that he had truly hurt the twins, the same way the wolf used to ran away with his tail between his legs to the live house where he spent most of his first year at.

Koga clicks his tongue, checking the time on his phone on what seemed to be the fourth time he had done that for the past 30 minutes. He makes sure to check their club’s group chat too, looking if someone has already read his message of arriving in their meeting spot a few minutes earlier than what they have planned.
Yuuta’s blue icon is the only thing that appeared next to his message, just leaving it as seen, while everyone else has their icons on the earlier messages made during the past day. Koga made a small tsk out of irritation, stared at his wallpaper for a while, and shoved the phone in his pocket.
They’re late, they’re 15 fuckin’ minutes late and if I don’t see one of them in 10 seconds I’ll start tearing up the shit I bought for them.

He’s not the type of guy who always does this, no. People even say that he has the talent to stay anchored in the present, shift his focus on the things happening now other than the things that already happened before. The place is buzzing with activity, with the crews running around the place, some to make sure that the idols that will perform afterwards are all ready and some who check if the appliances that are to be used are ready and without fault. The idols themselves are trying their best to help with the crew too, like Kaoru who immediately abandoned his makeup kit to assist their producer in doing last minute adjustments to Adonis’s outfit.
Everyone is so full of life that Rei can’t possibly overlook the only person that appeared calm, who turned out to have fallen asleep arms crossed on his chair. Koga seems to be in peace, his breathing steady and that little cross his bangs make bouncing a bit every time he exhales.

Once, he tried playing the song he and his mother used to sing a lot when she was alive. He was thankful that the song’s not heavy on the instrumentals and relied mostly on the vocals, yet he almost teared up when he first managed to finish the song.
Little by little he starts to master it, warm memories of childhood rushing into his mind whenever he plays it. Who knew that such little instrument could bring warmth to his heart?

It didn’t take long for Kaoru to realize that this is the first time that he heard Koga play anything other than the electric guitar given to him by Rei.
The sound of Koga’s voice accompanied by an acoustic guitar feels foreign to the ears, especially by the fact that Koga’s singing something that Kaoru won’t classify as rock. If under normal circumstances he would feel tempted to mock Koga about him knowing to play anything other than rock, but rather he feels quite jealous. Does Rei-kun get to see this side of Koga often?
