Beverly gives a small, thoughtful hum as she considers him, then glances back toward the courtyard. “Don’t tell me you were staring at Lecter.”
Will stiffens, eyes snapping back to hers. “Who?”
She smirks. “Tall, eastern European, looks like he was carved out of marble and money. You’ve got the same dazed look in your eyes everyone gets after seeing him… He’s a third year. Experimental Psychology student. Thinks he’s God’s gift.”
“I wasn’t—” Will starts, too fast.
Beverly’s grin widens. “Sure. You and every other fresher with a pulse. Don’t worry, he’s harmless if you don’t feed the ego. But I’d steer clear, if I were you.”
“Why’s that?” he asks, forcing nonchalance as his eyes move back to hers.
She exhales slowly through her nose as she crafts her answer. “He’s like oil in a world of water. You can get close to him, but you’ll never really mix. That’s how he likes it.”

Summary
Batman ends up in Arkham Asylum; Joker cannot believe his luck.
When he closed his eyes, kevlar fists bloodied his nose, rained down and crushed his ribs.
Batman was everything being denied to him. A promise of animal equality. Brutality for brutality. He chanted like a primal impulse against the beaming strip lights:
“Bats… Bats… Bats… Bats…”
Surprisingly plot-heavy, until it really isn’t.
