Summary
Greta finds there is something satisfying about mailing her new address to each one to her far-flung friends; Jo in California, Lupe in Texas, Esti back in Cuba. It feels like a statement, as though she is saying: look, I made it, I established myself.
Maybe I’m not too much after all.
---
Somehow, Greta's New York apartment becomes a crash-landing pad for every wayward Peach. (All except one, that is.)

Summary
In the very first week of sharing a room, Jess learns they enjoy watching her apply makeup. They lounge on their bed, head propped up on one hand, staring as Greta’s face changes under powder and charcoal and paint.
“I can show you how to do it, if you like,” Greta says, watching them watch her through the vanity mirror. “Since you’re so interested.”
This last part is said with a cocky raised eyebrow, as though she thinks Jess’ interest is sexual and not scientific.
(It’s a little of both, if they’re honest.)
----
Jess sleeps with girls in bars whose names they never learn; Greta sleeps with housewives who break her heart. It probably makes more sense just to sleep with each other.

Summary
“I believe in tables to sit at,” Greta tells her, reaching across the distance for Carson’s hand, turning it face up, tracing the lines of her palm. “Someone to sit with.”
“Oh..." Carson breathes, curling her fingers in softly. Greta trembles a little, scared of what she’ll say, and Carson feels it. She squeezes her grip, smiling. “Me too,” she says, swallowing. “I believe in that too. Someone to- to be with.”
“Yeah?” Greta asks shyly. Carson reaches to tuck her hair behind her ear, cupping her jaw so that Greta will look at her.
“Yeah,” she replies.
And at this kitchen table, something shifts between them. The light hits Greta’s blush differently as they look at each other, and Carson hasn’t stopped smiling since they started talking. This beating heart of the Rockford house - where the Peaches gather and laugh and drink and eat - holds them in all of its softness, watches them quietly in their falling and knows that they will catch each other. There is nothing more wonderful than being held this way, than feeling at home.
(Or, the story of Greta and Carson growing up and growing older together, how they change and become, as told by the kitchens they occupy throughout their lives.)

Summary
Carson was 27 and tired of her life. She needed an outlet. Or maybe to change everything. She wasn’t sure about anything except the fact that she needed something else, anything else.
She’d heard about a Taylor Swift concert over the weekend, on October 29th, 2022, in New York. That meant a go-wild find-yourself road trip and a weekend in the Big Apple. At least eight days away from her boring small city life. A time she could use to figure some stuff out.
So she wrote down a to-do list of silly things she should have done when she was younger: travel alone, have a lot of fast food, go to a karaoke bar, get drunk, see Taylor Swift live. She would do those silly things now.
Maybe she’d find out who she really was and what she wanted, while on the road, while in New York, while stanning Miss Americana.
She could never guess this trip would bring her much more than Taylor Swift.
It would bring her Greta Gill.Bookmarked by lavagril
