Summary
College was supposed to be a fresh start. The Party is scattered across nearby campuses, close enough to pretend nothing has changed. Will is finally happy or at least trying to be with his new boyfriend, Carlton. Mike tells himself he doesn’t care. He tells himself a lot of things.
Between shared houses, crowded college parties, and a friend group that never really learned how to separate, they keep falling into familiar patterns: late nights, quiet check-ins, and Mike noticing things he probably shouldn’t anymore. Everything Mike thought he understood about himself starts to unravel. Some realizations come too late. Some feelings refuse to stay buried.
And some feelings don’t fade just because you pretend they have.

"Who is it?" Mike cuts in, the question leaving his mouth before he could stop it. They're both drunk, their heads are hurting like hell, and they know they can't take this anymore. “Who did you love, William?”
"I always felt you pushing me away, years ago. I never knew you had this crush before you came out in Hawkins. I— I was upset, Will. And I still am! You always used to tell me your secrets then, and now you treat me like a stranger."
Will groans, dragging his hand down his face, "Mike, I am not doing this right now. I thought we were done with this shit-"
"No," Mike snaps.
"We aren't done with it! Because I wanted to be more than best friends, Will."
