JJ can’t stop staring and as he stares, the words come easy. Like floating. Or surfing. Or falling in love.
“So, this is stupid,” he starts. “But. You remember that time when I showed up to the Chateau and basically fell off my bike?”
“I remember.” John B traces the bone of JJ’s wrist with his finger. “Scared the shit outta me.”
“Yeah, sorry, I guess?” JJ tries and John B snorts at him. “Well, you picked me off the ground and once you realized I really couldn’t walk straight, you kinda put your arm around me? You helped me inside, kept asking what happened. I couldn’t even answer ‘cause the only thing running through my head was ‘I didn’t know, I didn’t know.’”
John B stops moving. “Know what?”
There are Kooks and Tourons and Pogues on Kildare, and then there’s something worse. Maybanks.

“Shut up,” Hawks mumbles, feeling his cheeks warming.
And then his eyes widen comically as he turns around so quickly it’s a miracle his neck doesn’t snap.
“You can talk.”
“No shit,” the demon answers with a smirk playing on his burned lips, one eyebrow raised in amusement.
“But… but they said you couldn’t!”
“Maybe I just didn’t have anything to say to them.”
(or Dabi is a demon and Hawks is an idiot but somehow they make it work)

Summary

“Do you remember what happened?” Keigo repeats slowly, pointing a finger at the bandages wrapped around Dabi’s head. “You got hit. Can you tell me how?”
Dabi’s eyes are looking back and forth between Keigo’s own, almost like he’s searching for something. Slowly, he gives the barest shake of his head.
“Don’ remember,” he whispers hoarsely.
Keigo purses his lips. “That’s okay, it’s pretty common to lose a few minutes. Can you tell me how old you are? What year it is?”
“I -” Dabi starts, blinking a couple of times. “‘M twenty.”

Dabi takes a knock to the head and loses the last three years of his life.
Doesn't mean he doesn't know his old friend Keigo on sight, though.
