Summary
Mira fully digs her heels into the ground now, firmly shaking her head. “Absolutely not.”
“What?” Zoey teases, nudging Mira’s shoulder. “What’s wrong? Are you...too scared? Is that a—is that a chicken I hear? Somewhere off in the distance?”
“Zoey,” Mira warns, head swivelling toward her, eyes narrowing sharply.
“Bawk bawk,” Rumi mutters under her breath, and Zoey practically howls with laughter at how quickly Mira’s head snaps toward Rumi instead, throwing her head back as she desperately grabs onto Mira’s arm to keep herself from falling over.
Unfortunately for Rumi, Zoey was the one who got the warning, which means Mira is in full fight mode now. That’s immediately demonstrated by Mira letting go of Zoey’s hand to start attacking Rumi, arms wrapping around her neck to pull her into a headlock. Zoey can only stand there and roll her eyes, watching as Rumi shifts their weight, hooking an arm around Mira’s waist, hosting her up into the air so it looks like she’s being carried bridal-style rather than attempting to choke Rumi out.
