    Summary

After losing the Finnish War, in September 1809, Sweden signs Finland and Åland away to the Russian Empire in the Treaty of Fredrikshamn. In October, shortly after arriving in Saint Petersburg, Tino Väinämöinen disappears, leaving his young daughter on her own in Ivan Braginsky's house, accompanied only by the disjointed unit of Baltic and Eastern European states who couldn't care less about their new housemate.

Their indifference and pre-existing complexes quickly come crashing down on them, and the longer the Finn is missing, the worse their condition becomes, as questions of what defines their very existence in such an uneasy time bring everyone to their breaking point.

"'I-I mean yeah, come with me to Chicago. You said you don’t know where you’re going, right? Then come with me. I’m not sure exactly how we’ll get a place to sleep, but three heads are better than two, y’know? Definitely better than one. And rent will be easier.'”
