I just realized this wasn't on AO3 and since it's a part of I'll Be Your Mirror, that seems like a glaring oversight. A timestamp for di, exploring this particular night:

Harry studies the card for just a moment. It’s all brightness and blooming growth where the last card was darkness and destruction: a child, fair haired and laughing and riding on the back of a horse, his arms outstretched and basking in the light of a yellow sun.“See? Not all bad." Jesy taps at the image on the card and nods. "Him I like. Look at him casting his light, nourishing the four little flowers in the back. He's an engine, burning brightly. Illuminating the dark corners. He's growth. Newness. Reconciliation...” Harry shakes his head and moves for the door. Opens it just as she says, “for all five of you.”
There’s a flutter and a commotion from behind him and then Rover is winging past him through the door, making her way out into the dark. The night air is cold on his face and it feels like relief. Like an escape.
“Four of us.” Liam sounds a little uncertain.
“What was that?”
“There’s just four of us, not five.”
“Oh…” her voice trails off as Harry steps out into the moonlight. “Well, like he said, it’s mostly bullshit anyway. Can’t get everything right.”

He’s already got his hackles up, like a pavlovian response to Zayn’s interfering. He’s just…amped up tonight. Feels like he can’t slow down. Like he’s a big ball of potential energy and needs someone to exhaust it on. There’s no one in the bar to chat up and he’s not interested in pulling tonight anyway…doesn’t want the bother of muddling through a conversation with a complete stranger, of tucking away his sharp bits and playing nice and taking a warm body home just so he can pretend for a night that his flat isn’t so cold and empty and winter isn’t just around the corner.

Summary
Niall’s told him all about the winter. The way the snow creeps in through the cracks. The way the winds make you feel like the entire continent will be ripped up and away and tossed into the void. But that’s the bad days. Niall says on the good days, everything is still, save for the ice, and the stars flash like strobe lights and if you look up, you can see everything. For an office AU hate-to-lust prompt that i took a few (read: lots of) liberties with. It's sort of an office, it's just an office in Antarctica!

They're both so hung up on the idea that dating = sex that they're oblivious to the fact that the joke isn't really a joke maybe until one of them starts going on dates with someone else? Maybe...slowly realizing that sex isn't everything, they've been more than friends for a while and figuring some things out. Non-sexual intimacy ok? Okay!
