Edgeworth clicked his tongue. “But that isn’t the only reason, is it?”
Apollo felt his chest tighten. “What do you mean?”
“You don’t have to talk about it, if you don’t want to, but don’t act like there isn’t deeper reasoning behind your behavior tonight.”
Apollo paused. For as well as he knew the chief prosecutor, his strength did not lie in his emotions—just the opposite, in fact. But in this moment, it was as if Edgeworth could see right through him.
“...How did you know?”
“It takes one to know one.”
After eight months in Khura'in, Apollo returns to America to attend the (somewhat) annual Wright and Co. Christmas party. But Christmas has always been...weird for Apollo, and everything is...different now. All it takes is one rogue comment from a shitfaced Ema for everything to come crashing down.
But...there's someone at this party who understands. So maybe it's not so bad after all.
