Violet follows his gaze. “Don’t worry, Scott,” she says with a crooked grin. “You’re still the scariest of them all.”
“Yeah,” he says, and drives.

She’s joking, of course – as if she could really become that powerful in a single year – but Scott’s nod is completely serious. “I bet you will,” he says, without a hint of mockery in his voice. “You’re way cooler than you let on, Kira Yukimura.”
Her face abruptly heats. He knows her full name. “Well, if the ice guy says I’m cool, then I guess it must be true.”
Scott laughs.

"God, that’s got to be the most ridiculous love confession ever," Jooyeon gasps, shaking his head. "The guy saw his chance and took it! That’s so funny, I might just forgive you for ranting about your Prince Charming again." He mimics the English nickname with a forced accent, stumbling over the growling sounds.
"Well, at least he has the guts to confess, unlike some people," Jiseok huffs, not realizing what he’s just admitted to.
Did he just agree that it really was a confession?
"And who exactly is that a dig at, huh?" Jooyeon fires back, squinting at him.

“Minho-hyung, happy birthday,” Hyunjin tells Minho, who smiles cordially and accepts the greeting. “Hyung,” he greets, turning towards Changbin this time. “Long time no see.”
Changbin nods wordlessly.
“This is Jisung.” Minho takes it upon himself to break the silence, nudging Jisung forward.
“Hi,” Jisung squeaks out.
“Yeah, hi.” Hyunjin smiles awkwardly at him. “Felix and I recognize you from whenever you pick up Minho-hyung at the dance studios.”
Seungmin recalls Jisung mentioning that Minho is a dancer, and he guesses that Hyunjin is too, as well as the Felix guy next to him.
“And this is Seungmin,” Changbin pipes up, surprising him as his strong, beefy arm lands around Seungmin's shoulders. “He's here as my date.”
IN WHICH Seungmin gets roped into a pretend dating situation with his crush, and somehow, this is how he learns that sometimes, the missing piece of the puzzle is right in front of you.

Fingers comb against his scalp. He’s gotten used to hiding the shivers it sends down his spine. Tingles fall down his shoulders and arms like rain, the slow motion of Soobin’s hands fiddling with his hair both exhilarating and soothing.
He wonders why Soobin does it. Why he himself did it too, all those years before. For the ten thousandth time, he wonders why people touch when they can’t feel it. No one knows. No one knows anything.
