Ilya loved Shane. Ilya was obsessed with Shane. Ilya would do everything for Shane. Almost everything. Because Shane could be stubborn and Ilya made it his task to remind him of that by making empty (playful) threats towards him. Empty, because Ilya's weakness was called Shane Hollander. And it didn't matter how strong he tried to be, Shane made it impossible for him to go through with anything. So yes, Ilya would do everything for Shane.
Or
5 times Ilya threatened Shane to not do something for him and then he does it anyway, because Ilya was weak for his husband + 1 time Ilya actually made a promise to Shane he will hold for the rest of his life.

Ilya’s voice dimmed, “Shane, what’s going on? Are you okay?” he sounded eager, but also sounded like that he would wait years if Shane even gave him one word in return.
Shane aggressively shook his head, the hum only growing. “I need to-“ No. No, this wasn’t happening. He wouldn’t let this happen. Shane slowly sunk down to the kitchen floor, feeling the nooks in the drawers of the counters scratch against his back while his eyes shut tightly. He wasn’t going to cry. He wasn’t a fucking baby. Shane was strong. And he was strong enough to make this stop.

Summary
He’s always been out of place. Even as a kid, it was stupidly hard to make friends with other people. It didn’t help that he was…different. The fact that he was half Japanese really repelled so many people from him and he never really understood why. He cried about it to his parents and they tried their best to help. They really did.
It’s too bad their best wasn’t enough.
TLDR; 5 times Shane doesn’t belong and pays for it + 1 time he really feels like he doesn’t belong.

Summary
“Er, hello, I am, ah, Ilya.” He manages to say, letting a grin form on his lips when he realizes he didn’t mess up his words and say something wrong. He looks at the other boy, waiting for him to say something until a second passes. The smile on his lips slowly fades as he tilts his head, a deep pit forming in his stomach. “Это было плохое решение. Мне не следовало с ним разговаривать. Он, наверное, услышал от других детей, что я плохо говорю по-английски.”— his brain uselessly supplies.
He almost tries to run away before the boy pulls a piece of paper from the pocket of his shorts. He scribbles something on the paper before shakily getting up and giving it to him.
‘Hi, I’m Shane.’ The paper reads, Ilya blinks, he wonders why the boy— Shane— won’t speak but he isn’t going to ask him about it. Maybe he just doesn’t like speaking. He can’t blame him. Instead, he nods his head, hands the paper back and smiles at him, “Shane. That is nice name. Very Canadian.” He jokes and Shane sheepishly nods his head, a small smile curling on his lips.
OR
After moving to Canada, Ilya struggles to learn and speak English. He becomes friends with Shane Hollander who does not speak at all.
