Summary
After he had completed his fill at the sight of her, needing only seconds to memorize every feature and molecule on her face and commit the frequency of her voice to his memory– but staying rooted in place to stare at her a bit longer as she paddled on about her long drive from the last big city she was at– he reluctantly announced his departure, standing up to leave the room only to have her push him back by the shoulders.
Logically, Kal-El knew that she could never move him from his place if he really didn’t want her to, yet there was something instinctively natural and amusing about allowing her to manhandle him and push him back wherever she led him.
While Clark would’ve scoffed at her attempt to boss him around, Kal-El couldn’t help but find the beautiful human endearing.

Summary
“C’mon Clark, your future’s laid out right in front of you, you’re gonna go to community college, major in agriculture, probably minor in law enforcement. Then you and Lana are gonna have a nice little church wedding.”
“It’s written in the stars and you know it. It’s only a matter of time before you join the bowling league, take over the family farm, and then, well. You and Lana can bring little Clark Jr. into the world.”
As much as it initially rattled him, perhaps Lois was right. Clark was determined to live a fulfilling— if perhaps boring— life as a human. He no longer had to carry on the weight of his "destiny," and now, he was just like any other man that wasn't really from around here.
Perhaps his life could never stop being strange, given his origins, but he hoped everything had settled in place, and he could finally be free with who and what he wanted.
Just like he’d always envisioned.

Summary
Clark smiled back at her, a ‘congratulations’ on his lips yet... something held him back. It was hard to distinguish the line for himself, between being friendly and feeling like he was showing too much, feeling and exposing too much.
He focused on the story instead, quickly using his speed to read through the article– surprised (although, he didn’t know why he should be), that it was actually very poignant and perspicuous— it was smart and just the right amount of funny. Just like Lois.

Summary
Adriana doesn’t tell their parents that she’s going to LA. She doesn’t tell Eddie, either—or ask, for that matter.
She does ask Chris, and he thinks it’s a good idea—says as much, on the phone, and doesn’t say much else.
“Buck will probably be hovering,” is what Chris does volunteer.
It still surprises her when the man who opens the door is not Eddie. It’s—Captain America, is the thing that actually comes to mind—a man close to a foot taller than she is, if not more than that, with blond curls and broad shoulders, and he’s got a question in his very blue eyes that’s probably less friendly than the one he actually asks her.
“Uh,” he says. “Can I help you?”

Arthur fights to keep his expression calm, mind racing and heart pounding. "Sorcery is outlawed in Camelot. On pain of death."
Merlin splutters, finally fixing Arthur with an affronted glare. "It's not like I meant to do it!"
